[In 2024, France Had a Total of 698 Active Collective Self-Consumption PV Projects] According to the latest data released by the French power grid operator Enedis, in the last quarter of 2024, France had a total of 698 active collective self-consumption projects, with a total installed capacity reaching 74 MW...

In the first three quarters of this year, France's solar PV installations reached 3.5 GW, compared to 2.3 GW during the same period in 2023. By the end of September 2024, France's total solar PV installations reached 23.7 GW, with 22.9 GW installed in mainland France. In the first three quarters of 2024, solar power generation (excluding self-consumption) accounted for 6.2% of France's electricity consumption, an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared to the same period in 2023.

Since the last quarter of 2023, the capacity of queued projects has grown by 68%, reaching 37.6 GW, of which 11.2 GW have signed connection agreements. In the first three quarters of 2024, 48% of France's newly added electricity came from the regions of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitania, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, which have the highest installation capacities in the country.

According to the latest data released by France's power grid operator Enedis, in the last quarter of 2024, France had 698 active collective self-consumption projects, with a total installed capacity of 74 MW. Compared to Q3 2024, the number of projects increased by nearly 140, doubling the 332 active projects recorded in 2023.

In the regional rankings, Occitania ranked first with 94 PV projects. The consistently active Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region ranked second with 98 projects, while the Grand Est region ranked third with 81 projects, benefiting from its dense industrial structure and numerous local initiatives supported by renewable energy associations and community leaders. The Occitania region achieved significant progress within one quarter, adding 19 new collective self-consumption projects. Meanwhile, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and Grand Est also demonstrated exceptional leadership, each launching 17 new projects during this period.

China Approves 17.44 GW Power Plan for Qaidam Desert Base, Including Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage Projects
It is understood that the National Energy Administration has officially approved the power source allocation plan for the "Qaidam Desert Base (East Golmud) Base". The planned construction scale of the power source projects at this base is 17.44 million kilowatts, including 10 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, 5 million kilowatts of wind power, 2.64 million kilowatts of coal-fired power, 0.1 million kilowatts of solar thermal power, and 1.5 million kilowatts (for 4 hours) of electrochemical energy storage. The total investment in the projects is about 86 billion yuan. The new energy will be transmitted to Guangxi through the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" UHV power transmission project. Currently, significant progress has been made in the preliminary work of the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" project, w

[SMM PV News] Armenia Hits 1.1 GW Solar Capacity,
Armenia’s cumulative solar capacity has surged to 1.1 GW following the addition of approximately 615 MW in 2025. This rapid expansion has pushed solar's share of electricity generation to around 15%, effectively meeting the country's 2030 target years ahead of schedule. The growth is heavily driven by a net-metering scheme supporting over 50,000 autonomous producers (totaling 650 MW), though the government ended loan subsidies for rooftop solar in July to shift focus toward battery storage.
